Returns and Repairs

J. Feld MFG Corp. and the Jewelry Design Express service maintain rigorous quality control standards when it comes to materials and production, and we stand by every piece we produce. We encourage our customers to thoroughly examine our pieces upon receipt. In the unlikely event that the need arises, we will accept for correction, any piece we produce that clearly shows a manufacturing defect and will take all steps necessary to repair it at no charge. 

J. Feld MFG Corp. is not responsible for any defects to any piece that has been altered or damaged in excess of minimal wear and tear. Customers may submit pieces, and we will assess the ability to repair such pieces on a case by case basis. Please contact us in advance of returning any piece. Repairs of altered or damaged pieces will incur a charge, which we will notify the customer of in advance and request approval to undertake. 

Because our pieces are time and labor intensive, and designed to your exact, custom specifications, we do not accept returns on custom pieces. Our custom design process includes numerous points of approval and review to ensure the piece is designed to your unique specifications.

Handling of Customer Items

When a customer is submitting valuable items for reference or use in a design, we take the following steps upon receipt:

• All received items will be recorded and opened under video surveillance.

• Each item will be photographed and inspected. 

• If during inspection we determine that an item requested to be used, such as a diamond or color stone, has damage, visible inclusions, defects or is in a condition that will lead to a high risk of damage during production, we will notify the customer before taking any further steps. 

  • The customer will then have the opportunity to decide if they still want to proceed with the use of said item under the risk of damage, and will be provided a form releasing Jewelry Design Express of any liability for any potential damage to the item, which must be signed in advance of work continuing.

  • We reserve the right to decline the use of any customer submitted item if it is deemed too fragile, damaged, or compromised during the initial inspection, or if it differs from initial customer description.

In the unlikely event that an item received from a customer that is deemed acceptable and approved for use in production, is subsequently damaged while in our possession during production, we will bear the cost to have it repaired under these terms :

• In the case of a diamond or gemstone, we will re-cut the stone at no cost.

  • Furthermore, for a diamond, we will credit the value of the weight lost, based on the most current Rapaport price list, against the overall cost of the project.

• In the case of any precious metal item, we will take the necessary steps to restore the item to the condition we received it in.

If the customer requests a change to the scope or nature of the work during the design and production process, diminishing or endangering the integrity of their item, we will notify the customer and provide a form releasing Jewelry Design Express of any liability .

Billing

No CAD Cost With The Production Of A Piece 

While we will charge your card or bill your account when you approve commissioning a CAD, the charge serves as a deposit for total project. We bill our CAD development at $85 per hour. If you chose to proceed with our producing the piece, the amount you have paid towards the CAD will be applied towards the final cost. If you do not proceed with producing the piece, we retain the charge for the CAD to recover the costs we incurred in development. We understand that projects can take time to develop, so if you return to the project weeks, or even months, later the cost paid for the CAD will still be applied towards the final cost.    

No Billing Without Approval

We will not take any billable steps or charge you without first notifying you and receiving your approval. When we provide an estimate to produce a CAD or produce the piece, you will be given the chance to approve the work and the cost. If changes in scope take place, we will notify you of the time and cost for approval.

Account Credit Terms

When you request a member account, you are prompted to advise if you are interested in Credit Terms.  Along with providing 3 or more relevant business references, customers will need to establish a track record, consisting of the successful completion of at least 3 projects, before Credit Terms can be extended.  Requests for Credit Terms will be reviewed case by case, and can be denied for any reason. 

Credit Terms can be rescinded if a customer is inconsistent or delinquent with payment, or if their business’ financial standing diminishes from the time they requested the terms.

Terms of Use

By submitting a design, you acknowledge and warrant that the intended design, resulting from your instructions and specifications, does not infringe any proprietary information or intellectual property of a third party. This extends to your submission of ancillary information, such as sketches, pictures, and CADs, used in the design process. By submitting a design you acknowledge that Jewelry Design Express and J. Feld MFG Corp., is acting as an agent on your behalf and to indemnify and hold harmless Jewelry Design Express and J. Feld MFG Corp., its employees and executives, from any and all actions, claims, suits, proceedings, losses, damages, costs, liabilities, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, and other expenses which may be suffered, incurred or paid by reason of, or arising out of any breach or alleged breach of the above representation and warranty.

J. Feld MFG Corp. retains ownership of and the rights to all designs it produces, both digitally and physically, and may use these designs as we feel fit, including for commercial, promotional, and educational purposes.
